I enjoy the ballet, dance, music and art and he likes beer, whisky and sailing. Any suggestions for cultural happenings between St Malo & Morlaix between July 12th & July 22nd?

No, but if your research turns up any suitable compromise on the west coast of Scotland Mrs MacHurley22 and I would be very pleased to hear of it!

Hmm. There are lots of Breton "Spectacles Folklorique" in Brittany during the summer. These usually consist of lots of Gaelic yiddly-tiddly bands (usually not bad, actually) and Breton "dancing", which is a bit like Riverdance without the frenetic upper limb movements, accompanied by atonal shrieking from bagpipes and penny whistles.

Lots of boats and drinking, though.

Welcome! Your other half seems delighted by your appearance on these boards /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Claymore has the solution

Let him away to his booze my pretty young thing, you hop on a train north - set down at Glasgow Central and I'll take you to the Highlands - capital of culture.

Woke bright and cheerful at 7 and away by 7.45 timing to perfection a brief stop at the bog, the waiting Gosport ferry and my train which pulled out within 30 secs of my arrival. Caught the one taxi waiting at Havant and sitting here in the sunshine with a cup of Earl Grey and bowl of cereals by 9.

Good to hear we managed to deplete stocks - you medicos have a cure for everything! Good to see you, will return the favour.

He only tells you he likes beer, whisky and sailing. Many is the happy hour we have spent slumped on the coaming chatting of the Bolshoi, the Guggenheim and Bach. Once I had to force him not to take the train from Portsmouth to visit the Bath Fringe. He even thrust his boat keys into my hand, begging me to dash the whisky from his hand, pour the beer overboard and take the wretched Oyster back to Ipswich and sell it. I think, Mrs Tome, there are many layers yet to be discovered in your beloved. Like an onion. Or at least a shallot.

Flirt...Flirt?
that was an honest stab at getting the wee lassie tae liven up ma summer an make me the talk of Tobermory.
She's be fine with me as I'm a man of culture and according to Dear Heart am very good in bed - I don't snore and go straight to sleep.

Levon Chilingirian, of the Chilingirian Quartet, runs master classes and free recitals and concerts each year on Mull. I've a feeling that it all may have happened at the end of June, but there's always next year. Is it Tome whose Mum's up there? You could combine a sail, a family visit, and a cultural event.

Don't suppose we'll seeing so much of Tome now (have you found out how to search previous threads?) /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Madame Sgeir and Mrs Superstrath have recently made contact. So far, they both think we're just daft. Which is fine. They haven't explored SB yet.

We're all doomed.

Dear capabar, good of you to defend the old chap ( birds of a feather spring to mind ) but the scenario I choose to favour is of you both chatting bull****, grinking Glugwein and of Tom complaining of his bad back - probably due to those stillettos he insists on wearing at weekends if you catch my drift. And to you Claymore, thanks for the invite it would be lovely to meet Dearheart again! To everyone else thanks for the welcome and to my husband re his password comment - up yours!
