Afternoon all,

I’ve been reading the few threads on Tollesbury marina in the forums and am looking to get some up to date information.

I can see last year that there was apparently some dredging which seems positive but wondered if anyone had an up to date view.

I draw 1.9m so it really is only a spring tide kind of place but we really like the feel and regularly walk the dog there. It would be nice to take the boat and spend a couple of nights.

What would the collective wisdom say?

Thank You

I last visited in August 2021 and the dredging had not had much effect on the buildup of silt and large areas of the stuff surfaced at LW. There was no obvious difference in depths in the marina from 2020 . It is extremely soft though so your keel will settle into it no problem. Pontoons A and B appeared to have better depth. Recommend you shut all seacocks as when you settle the silt gets forced up your pipework (in my case it blocked the heads). The new toilet block was a disappointment with water flooding all over the floor from the showers as the drains were not in the right place. What they did not tell me in the office was that the original toilet/shower facilities in the clubhouse are still there and in my opinion are better. Having said all that, I still enjoy visiting as there are some excellent walks from there, food in the clubhouse was good. The cill to the marina dries at -2.7m. At the entrance of Woodrolfe creek there is a tide gauge showing depth over the cill but have your binoculars ready!

There were times when a friend there couldn’t go sailing at neaps. He had a shallow-fin Hanse 37, so probably about 1.6m, but even so he sometimes couldn’t clear the sill. It’s quite a nice place if you can cope with it.
