My Tohatsu 3,5 deserves a new spark plug. The hand book says an NGK BP6HS - 10.

When I look on eBay I can buy a plug without the suffix -10 for about £1,50, but if I want the -10 it seems to cost oover £3,00.

Anyone know what the difference is and should I take a chance on the version without the -10?
Thanks

The numbers etc ref NGK
OK, without going into a long lecture type thing
The heat range is the No '6'
The'BP' thing is about the centre electrode sticky out bit.
Anyway
Most important for your application
The suffix '10' is about the plug 'gap'

Mostly applied to marine an outboard stuff
Not totally necessary imho nowadays.

In effect the plug gap is bigger with the 10 application

Kinda set at 25 thou stead of 15

Stick a standard bphs 6 in it or a bhs 6
Be ok mate

More important with one of those engines
Stick the correct two stroke oil in

As Kawasaki says the -10 indicates the gap to which the plug is preset in tenths of a mm. So -10 is pre set to 1.0mm. They come preset to various figures from -8 which is 0.8mm to -15 which is 1.5mm.
No number means "standard gap" ... haven't a clue what that is though.

Expanation of all the letters and numbers HERE if you are interested

Whichever you buy check the gap and re-set it to what the book says!
