Hi Guys,

Today's achievement was making a stencil for labelling kit.

I Googled & downloaded a free stencil font and in Word wrote the boats name large enough to almost fill an A4 page. I then printed it, stuck it to some cereal box cardboard and cut it out using a craft knife. Using some left over car spray paint I labelled up various bits of kit (see photo of petrol can).

Perhaps I might have got a better result if it wasn't just above freezing (or had some paint spraying skills!), but I was well pleased with today's achievement.

What is your boating achievement this weekend?

David.

As requested:
The two font sites I used were:

http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=114&fpp=50

I removed the cockpit floor to get out the diesel tank. Bar steward of a job. Absolutely filth under the tank, which still has 100 odd litres of fuel which I have to get out before I get to lift the tank. Painted the lower engine bay bulkhead. Just the start of a very long list...

Eastlaked, could you point me to the site where you found the stencil font, been looking for a while.

My achievement today - identifying, finding and downloading an instruction manual for my late mother-in-law's sewing machine - estimated manufacture date 1916! Made them solid in those days.

Fetched my old set of sails (probably the original set) out of the boat, laid them out on the ground and measured them.

This is so I can compare them with the sizes of the present set of sails in use on the boat. (With surprising results)

I might start a thread on this when I have digested the results.

The only boat related tasks today were to sort and replenish the first aid boxes and to replace last year's looseleaf Reeds pages with 2012 pages. My list hasn't got any shorter because neither of those jobs were on it!

I managed to feed a couple of quid's worth of tokens into the marina socket to keep the dehumidifier going. No mean achievment, since they have a habit of not accepting cards just when you are desperate. Also managed to pump a couple of pumps-worth of condensate from the bilge. It's a hard life.

I collected half a catamaran, two masts, four beams, etc , and there is still a sheep trailer load of wood, boxes, lexan, etc, to be collected on Monday. Just a three hour round trip !

Loaded it all on a 28ft trailer, and it is now sitting outside the shed, waiting for a DECISION !

Nowt boaty, it's 100 miles away, but I did repair my sofa where the missus fell thro. :D Very comfy it is again, too.

I wonder if I should have let her out before stapling the covers back?
You've been contributing to these forums ... that's boaty.
It's all I've done boaty.

I was going to take some bits of the woodwork outside and sand them while it was a nice sunny day ........ too cold though.. frost not cleared all day!

A long way from my boat! :(

Found an identical boat to mine and talked myself aboard to make up a paper template for new forepeak mattress, patterns for new hatches under the saloon seating and patterns for new cockpit cushions. Ordered the new mattress foam, 150mm up from 100mm.

Bottle of scotch for the owner.
