Launched today following a seemingly interminable winter of work. new standing rigging fitted and new guardlines ordered. Valeted mainsail collected from Wilkinsons, so now there's only the cleaning, bending on the sails, collecting refilled cushions, all the domestics, connecting up electrics, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...............etc, etc - will the work ever end?

Waxed the starboard side, greased the rudder bearing, checked that the e7 returned from Raymarine works with the radar, and a few other jobs in warm sunshine as the next few days don't look promising. Only the A/F to go on before launch, then it's go up the mast to clean and check, bend on the sails, clean the coachroof etc etc etc. I suppose we will get sailing before the nights draw in.

We had a super day sailing. We circumnavigated swallowtail - a lovely calm run out with the tide, and a slightly windier reach back, with just one tack. It got a bit blustery when we got back into the river, but we managed 30 miles at an average speed of over 5 knots, and only a broken clutch handle and slightly sun burned faces to pay! We saw about 5 other yachts the whole day and some of them were motoring!

Dunno , but think I got one somewhere , not so much on the back burner but off the hob altogether !

I think they're trying to rub it in now, mine's about to hit the road and head West, not East. Still, it gets her into a barn where I can get the fettling done, just need to find the time to get to her after the move but at least that's more likely than getting good enough weather for long enough to dry her out whilst stuck here

Yesterday I collected Marmalade's genoa - valeted and repaired by Dolphin...

Bent it back on the furler

Went for a sail on the Stour with my friend Steve in his boat Annabelle

Picked up my sprayhood from the Marina office - also repaired and washed and re installed it.

All in all a very satisfactory way to spend a Saturday...
