I have an old tinker traveller and have problems getting a good seal between the screw in part of the valve and the captive o ring which is moulded into the part of the valve that stays in the tube. One of the valves is quite "loose" to screw in and has been overtightened in the past damaging the threads. Is there a valve which I can screw in the old outer and use instead, or will it all need to come out for replacement, if so what to replace it with?

Our eBay tinker came with one of the four valves having been replaced with one of a different type. It stays in place, and you push and twist a small spring loaded bit in the middle to seal/unseal it. It is the same diameter as the standard valves so no problems with the pump. Unfortunately I can't give any details as I'm away from home - business trip - for a week, but if you're still looking next week, I'll have a look / take some photos.
Summary; you can fit a new valve but I can't give precise details.

there are two types of valve supplied as OEM for Tinkers. Both of them are easily replaceable with care and the right adhesives. I had mine replaced with the later type shortly before Henshaws in Wincanton ceased production.

That sounds like exactly what I am after, Thanks
