Time Expired Flares Collection

I'm on the CG in the Swale area; I can't imagine how the W.Mersea office can be offering that service, it's just not possible given the rules and regs that we are told we now have to follow. It's a (pre-arranged) trip to Dover for you I'm afraid, to hand in TEP's in Kent.

There is a notice on the Coast Guard Office door in West Mersea saying that they accept time expired flares

I WAS WRONG - SORRY SORRY.

Last week I parked my car outside the Coast Guard office in West Mersea. As I got out of my car, I noticed a notice on the door saying what I thought said "Time expired flares left here".

I had no flares to dispose of so I was not paying much attention. Following the post above, to day I went back to have another look and the notice says "It is a offence to leave time expired flares here"

Sorry

Ha! Funnily enough I was thinking about your post this morning and wondered if you'd misread that standard unfriendly notice we've had to put up outside every station! I was going to ask a mate of mine in W.Mersea to pop round and have a look, but he's off the hook now.

It is not unknown for farmers to use them to discommode rabbits by stuffing the flare down a hole, and covering the entrance with earth.
