Tilley Lamp X246B...

No, as above - paraffin only.

For a detailed list of what to ask for abroad see this web site

Coleman Dual Fuel lanterns run on unleaded petrol (gasoline) or Coleman Fuel. An alternative to Coleman Fuel in the UK is panel wipe (used by vehicle paint shops).

I have seen it thanks.
It is very helpful.
The difficulty is that abroad paraffin frequently has a wax additive.
This additive creates a build up of hard deposit that impairs the vapourisation process through clogging of the jet.
How does one overcome that ?

Well, I'm not so sure.....White spirit is refined paraffin, so maybe not so different. I use white spirit in hurricane lamps without problem, but they're just wicked, not vapour under pressure, so I can't give a definitive opinion. I'd use a 25:75 mix and gradually increase the white spirit component until you either started to see problems or it was 100% white spirit

Are you sure that you are not looking for a solution to a problem that does not exist? Even if the jet clogs then surely a quick poke around with a pricker will sort it out?

Just a quick google:

"Kerosine (paraffin to us) is a hydrocarbon fraction that typically distils between 170-270C
(narrow cut kerosine, or Jet A1) or 100-250C

White spirits are petroleum fractions that boil between 150-220C"

Both are a variable mixture of different length hydrocarbons, and they have a good overlap, though white spirits would seem to be a little more volatile. I can't see that there'd be much difference, but I'd still go cautiously...........

A difference in the aromatics contents may make them more or less smokey....

I once tried diesel in my Primus stove, with very limited and smokey success. Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I've used white spirits in the Primus successfully, since I've never bought paraffin since the eighties. I now use a Coleman with petrol, since the Primus has a leak....
