I own a 30 ft MFV larch on Oak called Dignity, I have owned her many years origonally in Arbroath but I moved her by lorry to woolwich 1.5. years ago.. not long after Id moved her I started working at sea with Thomsons and continue to do so, 6 months away in winter then 4 away in our summertime. Im back in woolwich now and shes looking jaded, I think its too dry for her here and the person who was going to look after her has faded away so shes left for long periods of time. I have got her running again , fitted new morse cables today and she could motor anywhere.
I have her for sale on Apollo Duck and Gumtree but I am now getting worried in case she does not sell.
The fees are mounting up too.
If the worst came to the worst where in or around the Thames could i take her to be broken up if it came to it, shes a lovely vessel but Im a mechanic to trade and wood work is not my thing plus I am literally never in Uk an ymore. I would be gutted if she got cut up as I used it as a house boat when my girls were young and moved her to London in an attempt to keep her. but things are out of hand now.
My question then is where could I take her to die if worse came to worse?
I asked if I could lift her out at woolwich and take all the huge amount of hardware off her, solid brass portholes, OM352 6 cyclinder merc engine, PRM Gbox, stainless props, new steering gear, 24 volt capstain winch dashboards, rudder set, self steer gyrocompass, auto steer gear, brass nav lights, solid fuel burner, up etc etc. I was going to get a chainsaw a liberate all the goos stuff as Im not a rich man. She also has 3 metric tonnes of lead ingot ballast in her bilges too. I thought I could strip her and burn or skip away the timber but I canot do that either.
Alternatively if anyone knows of a wooden boat charity, or boat school for young people etc that would take her on as a project I would doing that too...I love her but suddenly things have gotten very serious indeed. I go back to sea again for four months in July so my time is not great either.
She was built in Isle of Man in 1964 as a fishing boat , one of 6 but shes the only one left..origonally named Primrose.
Regards and thanks for reading this.
Alan Davidson of Dundee.
Any help advise would be greatly appreciated and please remember she could motor anywhere within reason.

You could try Bell Weir Boats 01784 438773 or Marlow Boat Services 01628 622965.They both have 'projects' laid up ashore.
Or maybe somewhere on the Medway? It can be cheaper down that way.
Good luck with it.

Why not slash the asking price? You seem prepared to scrap the boat, so ask a very low figure and I think she will sell. Would make someone a useful live aboard.

Re: Tight spot

Give her a mention on converted fishing boats on Facebook sometimes it's hard to get all back out of a boat
But it only takes one interested person to give her a new life just so long as it's not too far gone .put some pics up

How to make a small fortune in wooden boats
Start with a large fortune !

I'd put it on ebay with a well written title and a 3 day auction starting at 99p. Sounds like the sort of boat which you might have to pay someone to take away if you get too desperate. It'll be worth more than a pound to someone for the fittings I would have thought.

Of course you get the risk of non-payers with ebay.
