fancied a tide clock and started to trawl the net. I am now confused.

I have seen various makes and models but the time cycle appears vary between 12hours 25 minutes and 12hours 40minutes depending on the manufacturer.

Does anybody know how long the tide cycle should be ?

Thanks.

Have a look at some tables: the interval varies a lot (in the case of Dover, anyway,) so I don't see how a normal clock can cope. Perhaps they are programmed for years ahead?

Very, very practical piece of kit. When you pull into a pier, provided you know the range, you can work out in seconds how much further the water will drop (rise) under you.

Don't know if there is a precise tidal interval but I always reckoned on 25 hours on every 24.
