Has anyone got the Tides Marine Sailtrack system for their mainsail? If so, what do you think of it?

Has anyone installed this system themselves? If so, is it easy to do (the video makes it look fairly simple).

Are there any other recommendations for dealing with a mainsail where the sliders bind (due to length, the mast has a join at about 8' and the existing cheap sliders bind on it. Could it be that they are undersized for the slot).

Thanks.

We have the Tides marine track on both masts on our cat ketch,it's been great,I have also supplied and fitted it on two other boats. They have been very pleased with it too.
I must say that the sails always come down easily and I would recommend it to any one with an older style brass or ally track mounted on the back of the spar.It really does make a difference, and yes if you have the right section it is very easy and quick to fit.

I've been looking around the web a bit and I'm wondering if the Ronstan Ballslide system that uses the existing luff-groove, might not be as good and cheaper. The Marinetrack system is £26.40 per foot (£22 +vat) and I'll need about 45' (approx £1,200).

Ronstan sliders and batten cars are quite expensive, they do eventually require servicing.Tides marine track come with sliders and batten boxes included. The last track I supplied 45ft in August last year didn't cost £1200!.
pm if you would like a better price.

Im a bit confused..
If the track is £6.40 per foot... 45 feet would equal £288 ? not £1200..

Looking at Tide marine web sit it states £15 per foot

????

On the Tide marine US web site it quotes $27
That converts to approx £17..

so thats 17 x 45 = 765 + vat 20% 153 = £918

price per foot £20.40 incl vat

Not sure how much to import to uk, wouldnt it would be cheaper to go down this route

You have to add shipping charges, import tax and VAT
