Bit of a whoopsie moment asking about Titchmarsh, I was supposed to ask about Tidemill. So, as before, Anyone currently/previously stayed there ?.
If so, what's it like as a mooring location ?, looking at it, it seems to be a relatively short trip to open water, but is it a marina which dries at low tide, or what's access like if not ?.
I know some decry locks as they restrict access, but there are good and bad points to that
Opinions please, the website seems to mention the town and birds more than the practical aspects

No lock at Tidemill, has a cill to keep water in, but river dries. About 1-1.5 hrs to river mouth. Access either side of HW will depend on depth, varies from 1.5mish to 2.3mish Neaps to Springs. Website has table of predicted heights over cill.
 
Best marina on the east coast by far; good facilities, friendly staff - Woodbridge is a very nice market town with plenty of pubs serving good food and beer.
Downside is restricted access and its a long way from the sea - the river deben is one of the nicest rivers although not the best for sailing in a larger boat!!!
If you want a weekend away then you won't find better (I m o) but it has its draw backs as a permanent base for the serious sailor!!!
 
We had two great years there, very friendly, good facilities. Access for us at 0.8m was about 2.5hrs either side of HW. Now we're at 1.4m and berth at Granary which has the same access times as Tidemill but that extra 0.6m makes a big difference, there are a half dozen tides each year when we wouldn't be able to get in/out and times are restricted. But the Deben is the second prettiest river on the East Coast and Woodbridge is a great place to keep your boat. Tidemill is about £250 per metre inc VAT and Granary about £150.

I have sailed the area for a few years & have only known it as the Butley River, it was a true river before the south west onset of the shingle bank enclosed the river
