Tide prediction

Jacques;2739744 Since ten years I develop free tide prediction software for Windows named “Marées dans le Monde” (That means “Tides in the World”). The latest version of this freeware presents three advantages. To make your own opinion it is possible to download this software at the following address said:

Hi Jacques

Regret to advise that the setup.exe file is detected as malicious (heur.suspicious@1) in Comodo.

This may be a false positive but the file has been quarantined and is therefore unusable.

Are you aware of this?

Hi Jacques, I have had a look and this is what I noted in a half hour play with it:
  • Limited Tide Stations along UK S Coast
  • No WX Tide data for uk S Coast
  • Map zoom could do with a quick key (+/-) as Rt click and select is a bit laborious.
  • Offer of desktop shortcut would be nice
  • Click and drag map would be nice
  • Like the idea of displaying primary and secondary port graphs together
  • Major flaw - can't get view tide table to work, can only print
  • Tide tables output to Jpg file isn't as useful as output to Text file, the option jpg/text would be nice
  • I don't understand what 'Solution FES 2004' is, nothing in help about it.

Answer

There is no spyware in the exe for sure ! (This is not a french piracy action against the Royal fleet - the match is over!)

• Limited Tide Stations along UK S Coast

That's true but much more precise than Wxtide and enough if you enter correction for secondary ports

• No WX Tide data for uk S Coast

Yes I do not like the WxTide data for europe coasts in that case the interest of Wxtide is rather limited

• Map zoom could do with a quick key (+/-) as Rt click and select is a bit laborious.

True

• Offer of desktop shortcut would be nice

True, make your one

• Click and drag map would be nice

Under process

• Like the idea of displaying primary and secondary port graphs together

Please do not use Wxtide secondary ports in Europe before checking the accuracy of prediction

• Major flaw - can't get view tide table to work, can only print

the jpg exportation (see below) is designed for that, there is a jpg viewer in the software. Other solution, you can see the monthly table bottom right in the Daily Tide graph page

• Tide tables output to Jpg file isn't as useful as output to Text file, the option jpg/text would be nice

To print the tide table, go to the daily tide graph page, then press export text and paste it in your document (Word document for example).

• I don't understand what 'Solution FES 2004' is, nothing in help about it.

This is a data base not derived from tide gauge observation but from satellite observations, that offer a worldwide coverage but less accurate than tide gauge observation. For more details, go to :

Yes son said it was down to -18 in York night before last.
That settles one debate... whether to move to York to be near him or Dorset to be near daughter!

I have a cheapie weather station bought from Lidl.

Barometer is rubbish. It is sensitive to the room temperature, so beware buying cheap tat.

RC clock feature is nice to have.
Remote sensor is in the greenhouse so can keep a check on the temperature in there. (not weatherproof so would need protection to go outdoors)

Hi Vic, Dorset or York? Love York, best city in UK in my opinion.Used to have a place in Christchurch so like that too.Why not downsize then you,ve got the best of both worlds. Xchurch for winter (no tourists) and York for summer.QED
