Been a while since I posted...been busy revamping the website (which is now completely free BTW).

Anyway, just a heads up for you on Thursday and Fridays winds. I know many won't be venturing out, but for those of you who do, be ware!

There is a major low developing to the south of Ireland on Thursday, Present track takes this north to be just west of Scotland by midday Friday.

For Thursday we are forecasting widespread gales over Ireland, and through the Irish Seam becoming storm force later. These then transfer north overnight, with most of Ireland, Scotland and the Irish Sea having F8-F10 winds through Friday.

You have been warned!!!

Best wishes,
Simon

No problem Duncan.

Think it may be a day for the pub (although this could change). The problem looks to be the visibility rather than the winds. Worth checking again tomorrow. Sorry to be so inconclusive.

Cheers,
Simon

Are the (BBC) forecast gusts of 70-80 mph realistic and are any particular areas more susceptable than others ie out at sea or on the coast? Have the N Wales Peninsula in mind.

Currently the forecast for the south coast of Ireland is for 51 knots. That's a mean windspeed of just under 60 mph. So 70/80 mph in the gusts is quite likely.

Weekend Weather.

I like your site Simon and I have added it to favourites. Easy to follow and very informative. When I get up the home page for some reason I get an error message (line 92 code) so I thought I would mention it.

I am taking a 30 footer from Lymington to Gosport on Friday. Then on Saturday morning from Gosport to the Medway. Looks to me that it's going to be fairly light winds through to Sunday night but if you have anything to add to that I would be grateful to hear it ?

Pity I didn't get you to do the weather routing for me on this years Fastnet instead of Chris Tibbs.
Might have got something right then !

Re: Weekend Weather.

Hi Aod,

Thanks for the email. Our Fastnet was a great one this year with our boat winning it's class (we were well pleased as you can imagine!). Sorry to hear yours wasn't so good.

Friday looks breezy, just check the forecasts tomorrow before you go. This low is still causing problems, if it is further south, you could get the stronger winds.

Saturday morning looks like light winds all the way.

Thanks for the feedback on the site. Very useful and I'll look into the code error.

Cheers,
Simon
