Throwing your toys from your pram

Re: An example of tarring !!

P'raps a read of this forum would open your eyes to how much car owners whinge about being caught speeding and getting their pride and joy scratched...... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

HERE

Back to boats though..... stands to reason that the average raggie will be passed by stinkies more than other raggies. Likewise, a stinkie will pass more raggies than other stinkies....... therefore, the raggie will come across more examples of badly driven mobo's than other raggies, and vice versa! (makes sense to me anyway.. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

And as for being a gas at paties, are you implying I fart a lot?

Re: An example of tarring !!

Never thought of it like that before but I think you may have just hit the nail on the head. I could also be that they are peeved that we will get there first and nick all the best moorings.

Re: An example of tarring !!

The earlier post saying something about you be bored was definitely on to something.

So, there you go, another reply to your post. Reached your target yet?

The point was actually .....

tarring with the same brush ....

It would be easy to cry all mobos like yours Kevb are a menace etc. but that would be wrong.

I posted on some threads relevant moans which I assume are part of the reason your post to start this thread ...

Everyone can recite incidents seen or heard about - the trick and point is to try and get it right. Rarely done. Passing on incidents may educate others to watch out for / have better understanding what to do if it happens to them ...

I have had long discussions with PWC people off forum now about incidents that I posted about - instead of them moaning about my 'bias' they have been understanding and also tried to help me see things from their side. I am learning a side of the water world that I did not really know about ... maybe it would help you to learn about others ....

The quip about the yottie drunk in charge is just about what I expected actually from you .......... egotistic sarcastic snobbery with no ounce of humility or understanding..... you obvioulsy are not as clever as you consider yourself to be - as you missed the pointer at the very start of it. And comparing a foot slipping of a clutch to the folly incident ....... that defies all words .......... may you never start another engine .... !

I shall now retire to be drunk in charge of my keyboard .... !!

Re: An example of tarring !!

Wednesday and thursday were spent re-installing windows xp and everything else on my puter, after the whole lot went tits-up... so I was unaware of your ?similar? comment!

Still, at least it proves there's more than one sensible person that sails! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yesterday there was a particularily good gig at the Folly in Cowes.
We went over early and sat in the pub outside in the warm August sunshine.
On the pontoons opposite was a gap about 60 feet long, between other yachts. A Mobo had four attempts to dock on the pontoon and then gave up, it was either a Sunseeker or a Fairline, but really I could not see too clearly because of the tears ...

Clarification:
Likes of you: Inconsiderate boaters who don't give a toss about others.
Those likely to bring about regulation: See above.
Gas at parties: Nothing to do with farting. Probably more likely the saddo stood in the doorway becoming more abusive with each drink and wondering why no one will talk to them. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The alternative view. Should this be posted over on Mobo Chat?

More and more of the mobo threads are about how someone else has spoilt your fun out on the water. Get real please. What right do any of us have to EXPECT others to act differently when they are going about their own business within the law.

You wouldn't go to the park and EXPECT everyone else to stop playing football, playing with their dogs, playing on the swings etc..... just so you can have a quite read would you? So why expect things to be different when you're out on the water. Sailing dinghies have as much right to race across channels as you do to sit on your flybridge and try to go straight down them. Sailing yachts have the right to cruise along in any direction and tack frequently(incidently mother nature doesn't always go in straight lines). Why must a proportion of you expect to have things your own way and constantly moan about things if you don't.

I bet you're all on the A list for parties. NOT.

Grumpy old sods.

Why the F*** start another raggie vs stinkie thread. In my mind, mobos are the worst offenders, and that from a mobo. Had one come past me a little while back while I was cruising at about 28 knts. Problem was he was only about 6' away. I simply powered up, and crossed his bow at 40+knts so many times he had to come to a standstill. We then had a stand up arguement about why I was such a twat, until his wife came up to the bow and pointed out he'd put me onto my port chines in such a way that I'd nearly gone kerplunk, and that was why I was so heated.. Not a great thing to do, but needed doing to a twat that had no water skills whatsoever.

Sad to say, most of them are mobos

And the raggies can't do the same thing .... 40+ knots?! 1/4 of that would be nice! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hmm .. thinking about it, that would scare a few twillops wouldn't it .. wiz past a raggie, next thing you know, the raggie is up on its hydrofoils 2' off the mobo stern at 40 knots .... ... then out comes the bowsprit !! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think Brendon's got a strong point. However foolish a raggy is the outcome may be a crunch and a bit of damage. I don't think a raggy is ever going to capsize someone (or fling crew off a violently pitching boat). So the result of thoughtless actions on both sides have vastly different consequences.

Lots of room for improvement there then!!! As a newbie who's been lurking for a while I'm not to sure there's much in there. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Last night on river ....

Happily sitting at anchor sipping the local Pilsner .... wife sipping her Cabanet ...... floats drifting by with bait ...

We were minding our own business quietly fishing ....

Large MOBO with both diesels pushed to the limit goes past ... the laughter and merriment plain to be heard .... estimate about 18 - 20kts ...

It became extremely dangerous .......... with us thrown about unable to turn into the wash ... we were beam on cause of anchored ... case of sit down hang on and grit teeth till it passed .......

I'm sure all the girls were suitably impressed on board ...

Uh-oh. Road rage on the water ?

Not too sure what the answer is, but fairly sure that isn't it. Having a max speed of 29knots helps, 'cos there isn't much that I'm ever going to able to pursue, so resigned attitude prevails.

"Well, m'lud, the collision occurred shortly after I crossed his bow several times at 40knots..."

Then again, he's probably not going to forget it in a hurry.
