Well apparently Lincolnshire and anywhere North of The Orwell, doesn't count as East Coast unless we want to travel down to play there so here we go with the report from last weekend /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
For anyone not already aware, Sixpence has been plagued by engine problems from day two after her launch, and I am now on my fourth outboard, on loan from SandbanksSimon /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Saturday
Well the day started off well, I managed to get out of bed /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
But after that it went downhill fast as the engine refused point blank to start /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sunday
Well SandbanksSimon answered my plea for help and arrived on his steed to sort out the engine, and after about six pulls it finally started, don't think engines like me /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
So we moved down to a concrete pontoon which is safer to get on and off the boat from, and MadMatt the SweatySockJock turned up for a ride /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wife turned up and we were off, with camera clicking all the way

Engine started for me this time, must have been frightened by SandbanksSimon

so we set off to test the engine before we can move onto tidal water, and three men in a boat wanted to do some scouting out for more moorings

MadMatt on the left, SandbanksSimon looking after the engine

all trying to decide where to go /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif well it's not exactly something we have a lot of choice about here /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Dave

Have I missed something? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Has the usual 'bon hommie' of the ECF been broken? Does there need to be a "North of East but not quite North East Coast Forum"? NOEBNQNEC for short maybe? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I know there was a post about nothing North of Suffolk but thought it was all in good spirits. Just a bl**dy long way to get round to you by boat and with sugar beet season starting the roads will be blocked too. Living in carrot crunching land I know only too well.

Glad to see you are on the water even if it is fresh! Have you put off the Deben to next year now?

All the best

Hi Peter
PM sent in reply to your PM hope it makes sense, if not PM me and I'll PM another attempt /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Don't know about the ECF, prefer not to go there right now, it seems I am the idiot and I get enough of that in Scuttlebutt /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yup i arrived on my trusty steed gave the engine a stern talking too and threatened to kick its carb if it didnt start and she did.

must just not like those glasses dave ... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

great to take sixpence for a potter around (shes a lovely little boat) and go for a trip to the weeds ...
and made a top speed of about 3 knots /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif flying along /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

also got some very strange looks from the resident cows because someone on the boat was making some very peculiar noises not mentioning any names ..

must get that mast up and try some hanky power soon dave. can take a long pair of shears with us and cut some of them overhead cables /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hmm now about this sandbank malarky ....

it was only once honest ..

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I only mentioned the Sandbanks once or twice /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Stick will (hopefully) be up this weekend and we hope to set off for Wells and return on Sunday, all depends on the flood level by then so we shall see
Those cows looked very tasty didn't they /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Aim is to keep her in over winter and get some real sailing in whenever the weather allows, then hope for a better season next year so we can go further. Wind has been forecast as on the nose for months now and we went through that a few weeks back so know it would be stupid to do it on Sixpence.
Got another trip coming up to bring George's boat back from Lowestoft after he was injured so more experience and fun due /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
