Thoughts so far have been early Antares 12.80 or Rodman 41 on SHAFTS
Proper engines . NO asthmatic Banshee Howlers with 200 hour valve adjustments, thats a seasons boating for some of us.
No Sealines or heaven forfend Tent boats Outdrives or IPS. :)

I thought most Roman 41’s were IPS, didn’t realise they did a shaft drive version.
Not many other options as far as I know.

Yes . Shaft was an option on the Rodman 41. On the brokers listings awhile ago the divide appeared to be about 50/50 between shaft and IPs, unsold 41s now appear to be mostly IPS. Wonder why ?
The Princess 440 has been mentioned.

If you can stretch the 13m a bit, the Antares 13,80 with Cummins would be worth a look. Quality effort from Beneteau.

I know you said no sealines but I would make an exception for the generally lovely F43 with 63ps and no seatalk nonsense.
It is a lot of boat for the money. Cavernous for a 40 odd footer. the aft cabin doesn't totally ruin the looks either.

The bow isn't exactly a thing of beauty though.

Thought OG didn't want Volvo Penta either (he wants "Proper engines") ...? Or did I misunderstand that and the 63P scrapes under the wire?
the 63P was the last of the non electronic engines, with a Bosch mechanival fuel injection pump. The core lump is very good, the seawater cooling system is good and easy to ook after. The weak bit is the turbo charger waste gate, sticking open or leaking - but don't all marine turbos eventually rust away?

A bit above your size limit Aquastar 48 , side cabin or dinette.

All would be secondhand, now no longer in build, all shaft.

What's the budget?

Princess 45 is just slightly past the length limit, but ticks all the other boxes for you. Other ones to consider (again these are slightly past the 13m limit)
Fairline phantom 46
Jeanneau prestige 46
Azimut 46
Astondoa 46.

Moored in a boat club with very limited space. Max length 42 ft ish . Needs to fit on present mooring. 2 to 3 year que for bigger mooring. :(

Azimut 42 three cabin version, Intermare 42 or 43 with nice Yanmar 440hp (all mechanical) three cabin version.
Also but you need more Euros is Carnevali 130 (possibly best boat in its size) and Ferretti 430. Both also available in three cabin version.
