This weekend stay at East cowes marina

This weekend me and the misses are staying at East cowes marina and i am told that the lifeboat pub is worth a visit. Also can you get a bus from east cowes to newport or do you have to go to west cowes for the bus. I have only been to east cowes marina once for just a night stop over but what i do remember is that the facilities are excellent and the staff very helpful.

Cross to cowes and there's a nice path to cycle or walk to Newport.

We often do the Cowes to Newport walk on both sides of the river. http://www.iwight.com/azservices/documents/1376-Medina-Estuary.pdf
It is quite a hike to do the round trip, so we normally get a bus back. East Cowes is the #5 and West Cowes the #1 bus. Either is £3.50 for a single.

If you want to get the bus from E Cowes, either walk up and get it from outside Osborne House or walk down into the town and get it from outside Waitrose.

The walk to Newport is a good hour.

I didn't like to say that and I live there I tend to jump on a bus to Cowes if I want an evening out - certainly a better range of pubs and more restaurants to choose from too...

It's where you can cross the river!

From east cowes, floating bridge, left bank of river to Newport, coffee and cake, right bank down to folly, lunch, water taxi back to boat. Makes it feel like you've earned your dinner

No offend to Newport but as a destination it doesn't hold much appeal. The island is blessed with many great places to visit.

The last time I went to Newport there was a meeting of the Vintage Motorcycle Club by the church. That kept me more than happy whilst SWMBO did the shops. But I can't remember whether we went by tender or bus from East Cowes Marina.
