Since changing to Firefox67, the ybw website (and only the ybw website) keeps freezing for, typically, 30secs. Hard drive and CPU activity hits 100%.
Anyone any suggestions?
(I haven't tried an alternative browser yet)
Cheers
Bob

Firefox 67 with Windows 10 pro, working OK here. Do you use an ad' blocker ? If not, try uBlock Origin. The amount of ad's on here can cause issues.

The is actually a separate Forum News and Feedback Forum which might be more helpful?
I can report that in the last few days this site freezes my computer. I haven't changed anything. There have been 2 minor updates
from Microsoft very recently. W10 with their browser, E?
Mouse pointer freezes solid if I leave the site open and unused for a few minutes. I have resorted to unplugging (desktop) twice.
Seems a little better this morning, will wait and see.
EDIT: something mighty odd is happening to this site and no other. I have to restart computer after YBW keeps jamming up.
Will come back later haven't got time for this right now.

I am using Firefox 66 on Redhat linux and I am using AdBlock. I don't see the page freezing, but I do see strange behaviour.

As soon as I open ybw.com I see the CPU jump to around 200% (on a 4 core CPU). AdBlock is blocking around 15 ads per second and I can also see that the page is continually reloading. It is possible that this behaviour causes Firefox to consume quite a lot of memory.

I don't think the problem is with Firefox. I have had the same problem with Edge. Firefox kept running (badly) with the same problems whereas with Edge it became unworkable. I reloaded Windows 10 which seems some temporary ease but then came back and so I upgraded to AdBlock Plus. That allows Firefox and Edge to perform on this forum but like you the Adblocker is exhausting. I have blocked over 2685 while typing this. Other forums I leave running don't cause this. The moment I close TBW, the hard drive stops spinning and life reverts to normal. Last time I mentioned this I was moved to the Feedback forum but nobody from ybw were in the slightest interested.

My tablet screen keeps freezing for a few seconds and it seems linked to the adverts. It even affects my main PC but not to the same level. YBW also keeps reloading itself according to the symbol in the page tab. Some other sites can also have the affect and again it seems that it is aggressive adverts so these other sites I just leave I'm trying to avoid adblockers but I suspect that will change in the near future.

I am not having "problems" (Ubuntu and Chromium browser) but I do have Adblock plus, and this site seems to be pushing adverts all the time, Adblock plus is continually blocking them. 1798 items blocked on this page in the time it took me to read this thread and post a reply but that number is counting up all the time.

I have not seen this behaviour on any other site, normally the ada load (or get blocked) and that is it.

FWIW uBlock Origin has blocked 4 requests on this page, as i read this thread, it is not increasing. CPU is at 3%

No idea why some of you are seeing different things.

I don't have any kind of Ad blocker and muddle through without. However if Forum Admin read any of this, after 7 years of interest and a few contributions it is becoming very difficult to use this site. It keeps jamming up my whole desktop. Any thing you can do to stop this please?

I'm using Windows 10 and Chrome with Adblock Plus with no trouble. ABP reports 10 blocked on this page.

This site runs a plethora of video ads. My PC can just about cope with it but on my android phone it drains the battery at about 2% per minute as the ads take CPU even if they are not displayed on the screen. Probably one of the most abysmally designed sites I know. I have adblocking on the PC but it is still slow.

Hmmm, uBlock still reports 4 blocked requests on this page and the same on the main PBO forum, same on the YBW page. Wonder what it looks like with the ad blocker off........

Opened a new tab with the ad blocker on, only two ads, but they seriously slow down page loading. I don't think i'd want to use the internet without an ad blocker.

I am using the latest Firefox and the YBW site freezes all the time. This morning it froze so I used the Windows Task Manager to try to find out why.

Normally a site will use around 200K bytes but the YBW site was using over 1000K! (One megabyte) . I have contacted Firefox.

I think it may be to do with the flashing advertisements at the top of the frame.

NOTE I have just checked again and the site is now using 458K and building up

Its not as bad this morning! I have managed to write two simple posts without a freeze! There is still a lot of flickering of the reload icon and in the bottom LH corner of the screen. As stated earlier this is only happening on ybw sites, so limiting my visits until ?

Paul,
My browser has the native Firefox pop-up blocker set. (I'm loathe to change settings to accommodate one website).
Cheers

The Firefox popup blocker doesn't stop the ad's. A quick check using the task manager, with and without the ad' blocker, shows that the ad's are not only using the main CPU, but they also impose a noticeable load on the graphics engine.

I'd suggest you both try uBlock and see what difference it makes, easy to remove it if you don't like it.

Good advice, I've been using uBlock for ages and this site would be hopeless without it. I'm surprised that advertisers don't try the websites they place ads on - if they looked at YBW they'd stop paying for ads rapidly!

I was unable to post yesterday. I installed an ad blocker which I've never bothered with before. It told me it had blocked 1000 ads in less than a minute. It's standing at 172000 right now after maybe 7 hours of use. Oh look: over 2000 since I started writing this...

Per my post on the website feedback forum: I wonder if the people who work on the website care that revenue will be being lost through people installing ad blockers or whether they'll just write it off as something that only the finance people will worry about

5000 since starting to write this post now..
