Boats & Outboards.
Anyone see anything wrong with this type of boat? Or anyone know the pit falls of these Seamasters at this sort of age?

Nothing wrong with the boat, some have petrols which are getting very old and problematical now.

Diesels better and Bilge keels handy.

Not sure I like the homemade wheelhouse on this one though, prefer the standard fit windscreen and for that reason I think its a bit expensive.

Just goes to show. I thought the wheelhouse rather well done!
The BMC 2.2 should be a 60hp diesel and well suited to the boat, that is hard chine/ displacement so no point in any more horses.
Don't expect it to steer in reverse with a single shaft drive, but if you are on the Lakes I would not have thought a problem.
As for price, do a search and get comparisons for a Seamaster 27.
Hulls are strong but from an era that is prone to osmosis. Not a problem, but get the price reduced to cover the cost because who ever you sell to will do it to you!!

Likewise, i thought the wheelhouse was factory made, thought it looked quite good, thats what attracted me too it, also tis a benifit for our rainy climate up here on Loch Lomond.
Are they all bilge keels?

Never thought about steering with a single shaft, we have to back into our berth as the fingers aren't long enough, would maybe have to change berth!

Would have any boat i'm likely to purchase, surveyed, so it would show up any osmosis.

we used to have one of those probably around 18 years ago, but on the river thames, great boat, memory serves me,it was a single deisel, however the wheelhouse looks modified for more extreme weather.

Used to sleep4 very well, with a nice front cabin for 2, and a converted dinette for the other 2. The loo was a bit small, and we never had a shower then, but it never let us down

Hi. My dad has one of these.

they can be made to reverse but it takes a bit of practice.
most of them have builge keels, lot's of them were self build's there was also the springfield seamaster (odd round windows).
Factory boats have a plate in the wheelhouse, and the hardtop was a factory option, otherwise I agree with above.
Value ; up to £15 K for a good clean factory boat.
