I think Boats have been somewhat the same for ages. This modern type of boat with innovative design is I think the way to go.

Also a big no from me. I prefer the traditional style. Too much laminated ply board and Grp interiors on boats now.
Give me a large wheel house with solid wood any day.

Not for me, no where near enough accommodation space, availability of petrol in my cruising are means diesel is the best fuel choice.
Nice boats and certainly have their place in the market but not for me at this point in my boating life.

I like the cabin version that you linked to in Nicks video - not sure about having to walk through the cabin to get to the bow -, would probably prefer to walk around it (without having to climb up), but understand why they've done it. and it has some nice touches. The fold down side decks are great from an increasing space on board point of view, but I wouldnt want to be an early adopter for fear of issues with the hull/opening mechanism. I'd never buy the cabin version though because of where I use it - cabin like that is just not required. The overall look is a little bit clumsy I think.

The open version of the same boat (320GTO) - which on the face of it would suit my use a bit more, I think just doesnt look right at all . The hard top looks like a clumsy afterthought, and I dont like the glass panel in the hull . We did briefly consider one before ending up with the Axopar 28 - which is a similar style of boat - albeit 1m shorter overall

I really like it but think it's very poor accommodation (bedding and lack of proper wash/cooking facilities) for 200k.

It's a typical Scandi style. Fast wheel houses are a big market here. They're perfect to get back and forth summer houses in the archipelago, (Stockholm alone has 28,000 islands) and and allow a longer season.

The problem with these types of boat is that the use of space seems to be very inefficient.

If you take a typical 34 foot sports cruiser, you have
  • a bathing platform at the back to swim off
  • a big cockpit with sociable seating (above the engines)
  • a helm position and navigator seat (above the aft cabin)
  • a galley and saloon (below the foredeck sunpads)
So every metre of the boat has a dual function.

For that Saxdor, because most of the boat is on a single level, there's far less useable space.

You're completely right, however since you cannot buy a brand new 34ft sports cruiser for under £200,000 (especially one that will do 50 knots) so it's a bit of a moot point.

Yep - as usual with boats you need to choose your compromise.

I have a 320 GTO version on order, should be delivered in the next few months ? . For us it’s all about day boating- we don’t need to stay onboard as we have a place locally, the main drivers for us were great deck space, seating round the table for 6 under the T top (we don’t like to sit and eat in full sun,) good sun pads at the front and back when we or friends want to sunbath, easy walk round wide decks both sides, downstairs area with toilet and room to change in private, Diesel hob - Fridge and sink in one area, ease of maintenance and lower servicing cost with the outboards, UK dealer based at our marina, and the main one is my missus likes the boat and was involved in choosing her ?. Downsides - main one will be fuel cost, but we don’t do large engine hour and with my ‘man maths’ the additional cost of fuel will be off set by no lift out costs and much lower service cost compared to my last boat a SC35, will report back once we get ours and have used her ??

I understand why your service costs would be lower, but why would you have no lift out costs with the saxdor?
