I just wanted to share a small success story.
On our Westerly Storm we have a plumbing set up with a single pump emptying both the Lavac toilet and the holding tank. I have never wanted to understand this system, as understanding inevitably leads to managing blockages, and left it all to samwise, formerly of this forum. Sam suffered a stroke a couple of years ago which affected his language very badly and now he can't explain the set-up to me, and the damn thing has (inevitably) stopped working again. We spent a very cross day on board last weekend while I crawled around the cockpit locker and endeavoured to understand what went where and why, and Sam got fed up because I didn't understand his explanations.
Last night I was inspired. I searched on here for posts from "samwise" mentioning "Lavac". And behold in 2009 he suffered a similar problem and posted on here http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?212057-Lavac-puzzle a simple explanation of what went where. Fantastic. Together with a helpful diagram on the Lavac website which seems to be the right one, and the responses posted on here at the time, I now have some idea of where to look.
The loo isn't working yet, but at least I now have some hope of getting it right....
