He was amazingly fast....long hull gives fast hull speed....we on the other hand were trying to save fuel

Nice but not quite in the same league as a Wm Fife yacht, built at Fairlie (near Largs) in Scotland but now the gold standard for classic yacht regattas like Les Voiles de St Tropez.
