Thinking of a switch to a RIB

Have you considered a diesel Rib ? Are they preferred?

With one of those you have all the disadvantages of an inboard and if open as they often are few of the advantages of the type of boat the OP already has. And generally no they are not preferred. Outboard is the way to go

Rich mans boating...... Not real boating
What is the difference between the post above and someone having a rib in a dry stack anywhere else and using it
SammyB may well live down the road and it’s just the local marina
a 7 mtr Rib isn’t a super yacht with 28 crew and a ships dog

Boating is about getting out on the water and enjoyment no matter the budget without opinions like this, well thats my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

If you’re engine breaks down you’re still stuck no matter how expensive the floaty bit is

Back on track…

I’ve been and looked at a few ribs now and am pretty sure something 6.5-7.5 will be good for our use. I definitely want 4s, something 115+ hp and ideally an alu hull but that’s not a deal breaker at all, I was just very impressed with Highfields.

Speaking to a broker today re our current boat and we’ll then see!

As someone thinking of going the opposite way…
JakeW has a very nice 7.5m Cobra/Verado 250, huge spec, autopilot etc. Wonder if you both could work something out?

A 115 hp will be under powered on a 6.5 m rib. 115 is for 5.5 - 6m and even then only just if you have a few on board

Nope but nor do we need to express them, particularly when it is unnecessary and adds nothing to the discussion.

your opinion of course. Which I think is unnecessary and adds nothing to the discussion but you expressed it none the less

So ....... I happen to agree with Bigplumbs. On a 6.5 a 200hp is ok a 250 would be better but all depends on how much you want to spend.

Yup, a nice boat but a Bit overpriced IMO. There are 2 similar for 10k+ less.

The sad truth is all Ribs seem overpriced compared with Hard Boats.... To get a nice big Rib you might end up doing a swap with nothing in return for the 805 which I think is rather Crazy if that did happen
