We are very fortunate in having an active and thriving organisation in the area, the MSBA.
All sorts of river users involved, including representives from our local council, now well aware of the value an asset such as a river can be, especially to developers.
Unlike many somewhat partisan organisations they have members drawn from all sorts of boating perspectives ie. local posh marinas/some rather specialist boatyards / brokerage companies/rowing/sailing/motorboat clubs/ commercial interests including fishermen and heaven forbid even Hovercraft owners.
Does make for some interesting conversations in some of the meetings but at least they are talking in the same room as opposed to shouting as they pass each other on the river.
Points of interest for locals at the last meeting was PeeL Ports intention to lift the mooring bouys in Chatham town centre, due to lack of use and the fact that somebody will be attempting to lift that little road bridge at the end of Faversham Creek.
It has not been raised for many years and its an even bet that even if they can lift it, will it go back down again.?
Plus some positive actions to encourage owners of PWCs to get with it.
