Things to do in Antibes this weekend?

Things to do...
1.walk round town, very nice, could spend an hour easily
2. lunch. Les chineurs is very nice and is south facing (town is, annoyingly, mostly north facoing)
3. Wander round marina - south side and IYCA superyachts, I suggest. Some very nice boats generally around the place . I might be on my boat, not sure, have lots of tech stuff to fix so will be busy wielding screwdrivers. Or I might be out at anchor
4. Picasso museum, qv
5. Plenty of chandlery shops! Don't look at prices. Some boat dealers and broker offices.
6. If you want a shoreside restaurant in the sun, the old town doesn't have it. Vieux murs on the ramparts (walls) overlooks the sea. Royal beach has a really nice beachside restaurant - ten min walk to salis beach zone. Right in front of the new Royal beach hotel, across the road from it
7. If you want a long leisurely beachside lunch take a 5 min cab to Keller Plage and go to the beach restaurant there. Delightful, with lots of anchored boats in the La Garoupe bay.
8. Taxi general number is 0493 676767. Computer allocates call to next driver's mobile, like 16th century uber sort of. Half of them speak EN

Excellent. Thanks.

Now here's hoping the thunderstorms don't stay too long this weekend!

Currently 17.5C in La Napoule & been raining cats & dogs all day. Supposed to have left for Italy today, oh well thats how it goes. Bad tomorrow but supposedly better on Friday & weekend so you should be ok.

Well we eventually got into Nice after an aborted landing on Thursday evening and then diverting to Marseillies to sit on the tarmac for 2 hours followed by another (successful) attempt to land at Nice on (very) early Friday morning.

Anyway, nice weather on Friday and into Saturday and looking forward to some exploring to either Antibes or Beaulieu-sur-mer on Sunday.

If you spot a middle-aged Scots couple ogling at the nice boats, then please invite us aboard for a G&T ?

Seriously though, we are considering buying a property down here or in the Languedoc to have as a rental property and later retirement property. So any tips or thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Thanks, Kenny.

Kenny,

I have previously sent you a PM. It has my contact details. We are in the process of buying in Beaulieu having sold in Edinburgh. We also moved our boat from Edinburgh to Beaulieu.

Thanks all for your suggestions for my Antibes trip. Well worth doing and a great place for both boat and soul to live. A slightly damp day led to good few hours in an excellent wine bar (after a walk round the marina and a lengthy lunch).

Unfortunately I didn't spot / meet any forumites, but I may have spotted a few of their boats. In fact JFM, I may also have spotted you cruising past Nice on Monday?

I must say that I do love France and each trip makes me consider more seriously a move to SOF. (Subject to Potential Brexit impact of course)

Thanks once again.

Kenny.

Glad to hear you had a nice trip. It is a very cool place. Sadly that wasn't me- I was back in London's smoke on Monday. There are 9 squadron 78s based in Antibes or +/- a few miles, and 5 in port vauban alone, so they're a common sight

My spies tell me that they are currently building Sq78 hull number 113. Pretty impressive.
