Scrotes!
A sign of the times , recently outboards were stolen from Deacons. A dingy too which was dumped in front of my boat. It sat there for weeks which I'm afraid just shows how poor security is in any marina. Eventually it was claimed. I notified marina about it weeks before as it was in the way. Should have claimed it!! Eventually spoke to owner , a nice young lad who was gutted it had gone, outbound was missing.
I've yet to find a marina that's safe from theft.
probably exportedI guess it depends on how you view the problem, if there was no market for stolen outboards then the problem would stop overnight.
It isn't the thieves that you need to protect yourself from, it's other boaty people!
Any boat theft in Hampshire is probably best reported to the Hampshire Police Marine Unit.Subject: Thefts on the hamble* *Today at 8:27 am
Hi all,
I thought I would share this, a friend of mine on a fishing forum had just posted this after his and two other outboards were stolen at Eastlands marina on the hamble yesterday, so stay vigilant and keep your belongings safe.
"Well today went down to the boat to put it in the water ready for the weekend to find my outboard gone as the two boats next me! The outboard had the locks bolt on but that didn't even slow them down.*
they took my mariner 80hp 2014 only 6 months old! so if any one is offered one then please let me know!*
hopefully everything runs smoothly with insurance claim as the police weren't overly excited about it!
great start to the weekend! crazy thing is they even cleaned up put the panels back on and on the other boats they even moved things like anchors and then put them back! "
I've just ordered Smartwater as I understand many local boats use this stuff, £44 a year (unfortunately I don't get commission)
Stay safe*
Andy

I see from the Southampton Waters facebook page that a prop was stolen from a Sealine S34 that was lifted onto the hard last week.
Its certainly annoying, it was lifted for delivery to a friend of ours who had just bought it through the sales brokerage. I guess they are discussing today who's responsible for replacement.
I have always maintained if you put on a pair of blue overalls with volvo penta on the back walked down any pontoon with a trolly and a toolbox you could virtualy enter any boat unchallenged...
... returning along the pontoon with a 700kg engine casually balanced on your shoulder?

Depends which marina your in, I'm not going to compile a list where you could but I'd say more than less if you get my drift.
they should be hoisted over the prop at 2000 revs balls first
