Thefts from Shotley Marina.

Nothing specific. Part of the ongoing chatter. In the same vein though the police visited and spoke to a number of boat owners last August/September. They were looking for a male who was thought to have broken into and be living on boats in the marina. At that time there were appeals in the local press and family posters in the marina looking for a Shotley lad. Sounded tragic but not sure how it ended.

Not many marinas have coded gates. Ipswich, Burnham but where else? Toilets are better secured everywhere!
Always reminds me of a B & B we visited when I was very young. The place was hopeless, even toilet was outside. When we left my mother gave the landlady a string of complaints. I recall one being- "There is no lock on the toilet door". The reply being " Luv, I have been here 40 years & no one has nicked a bucket of shit yet"

It does look like Tichmarsh is adding to security. The hut at the marina entrance has been painted / upgraded and there's framework for a new security barrier going in.

No gates, but SYH have now run a fence along the public foot path which runs parallel to the marina; helps stop jo public from parking in the marina and walking through the marina, bit of a pain for berth holders who want to go for a walk but probably necessary for SYH's public indemnity insurance

However anyone can drive in. I've spotted drug dealing going on at the far end. On the latest renewal they've asked for car reg so hopefully they will tighten up security there. Someone nicked the wind indicator form the top of my mast recently , I suspect Mr Aeolus !
