'The World's Most Favourite Yottie Bar'....?

See, there's a problem... They have been voted "the worlds most favourite yachting bar in the world" which they have changed to "best yachting bar in the world" just because something is my favourite it doesn't make it the best.

You'll have to go a long way (many many miles - see what I've done there) to beat Pete's cafe Sport in Horta, certainly one of the most famous and after many days dodging Atlantic storms it probably does seem the best place in the world...and they certainly do the best black pudding I've tasted outside Scotland....however, no outside seating.

But is that the circumstances that make the bar?

I quite like the Chain Locker in Falmouth, walking distance from the boat, views of the harbour, Skinners on tap, boaty stuff all around, lots of pics including a pic or two of mine (well used to be). I grew up in Falmouth so I'm biased. Then again there's also the Pandora, but not been in there for years and years.

Agree!! Luckily (for me) Pete's Pub is within 20 minutes drive from my house - or an hour by boat. The food is great; the rum blasters even greater  I wince, though, every time I deposit my 'gratuity' (was going to say "tip" - but in this context it could be mis-construed) by stuffing it in the end of a porcelain penis sitting on the bar!!! :ambivalence:

I've voted for Foxy's but so have several others so I'm now splitting my vote and going 50% for Pete's Pub as it's rather less "well Travelled"

I always thought a yotties favourite bar was the one still open and serving when you finally get in, cold, wet, tired at some ungodly hour, after a passage in which the booze locker crashed open and it all ran into the bilge, where all the beer cans have split open and the auto bilge pump got it all overside before you could rig a bucket under the outlet?????

"...No charterers telling stories of death defying sails from Trellis Bay to Jost Van Dyke.'.."

We were disappointed with Foxy's, Willy-T's, Soggy Dollar,et al, indeed all the BVI bars that we visited. I suppose it's hardly surprising as despite their each purveying an overpriced, unique/invented-here cocktail and the odd expensive beer besides, they're not first and foremost 'bars' but tourist-tat shops, as their main income stream is clearly from the sale of tee-shirts, baseball caps and other 'we woz there' paraphernalia.

Raury's in Vlicho Bay's was usually pretty good and there's the first pub up the road from Bray Harbour in Aldernay - jeez I've earned some serious hangovers in there, does it ever close? But number one for me would have to be Saturday night's in Miss Lucky's in Tyrrell Bay, Carriacou.

The Divers, Alderney. If the weather is particularly terrifying, the Aurigny Air pilots from the aerodrome pull in for a slug of Dutch courage before taking off :)

(In uniform as well. We were gale bound.. in a Sigma 41.. so fair play if you need to go up in a 1971 Trislander).

One plus point for Foxy's is their beer! They have a micro brewery and produce a range of beers at least two of which are similar to the real stuff sold in the UK. One gets really tired of fizzy yellow lager which is only just drinkable when near frozen.
