Re: The World\'s Mad

I used to have a print business, nothing big just me on the machines and Mrs. Cotillion in the office. Mr. H&SE turned up one day and told me I was not to run the folding machine until I had put some covers on it. The machine in question was approx 60 years old and had never possesed covers. I explained to him that what he was asking for would be a relatively major peice of engineering and would cost more than I had paid for the machine (£50) and that as I was the only person to ever go near it and that as it was me who had paid for it and it was my property he could go <I then switched on the machine> himself! He never came back.

I once got involved in organising an event for the local council - never again! They asked me to provide risk assessments on every component of the event, including the local brass band! When I told the H&S officer that the only possible risk I could foresee was the explosion of the tuba player if he got over-excited, said officer had a sense-of-humour failure /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: The World\'s Mad

In cases such as this, which authority is actually stopping him doing this work? The H+S nazis, don't have that authority do they?

Maybe I've missed something (Quite likely) but who can stop him? Anyone can go in a boat alone can't they? I realise that the Police can be forced to stop calling him, but I don't see who can stop him actually going out and about and continuing to do his 'work'.

Someone explain it please!

It's reported that Helston Flora Day may end shortly due to H&E.
It appears that they cannot get enough stewards to stop motorists from trying to move road closed barriers and drive down the dance route, why? to avoid the diversions for the day.
I'm having doubts about the whole Country.

Before you can have a sense of humour failure you have to have a sense of humour to fail

Apparently nothing to do with his age - he's 61 - but that he no longer has an 'assistant'
