On page 53 Musto reveals that Ellen has not been sailing single handed after all. I quote "Ellen MacArthur, around the world yachtswomEn wearing ...."

I think she's done amazingly well, but I can't stand her.

Nice to see how easily you lot get wound up with this Ellen thing. My remark was merely tongue in cheek to do with the first post and the mispelt item in the article.

No, you're on to something there Dom. THere are 2 Ellens and 2 boats. That's how she wins everything. The other Ellen is even now sneaking her 60ft mono back into St Malo while no-one's looking. If you look closely atpictures of the one who won the Route du Rhum you can see marks where she's shaved her moustache off prior to kissing the real Ellen's boyfriend. It was the same with all that southern ocean stuff. The real Ellen set sail but spent the event sipping daquiris in the Cap Verdes, like Crowehurst but successful. Ellen 2 was in a backlot in Elstree with her boat and a team of street children employed to throw buckets of water over her when the cameras were rolling. No one went to the southern ocean and that's because no one would be mad enough to.

Sorry Robin I think it might have been my intervention that caused the riot but if it wasnt I am taking the the credit for it anyway ;-)

John I love the theory could make the beginnings of a good book about a yachtswoman who wins everythig, but her and her twin are actually cheating.

Probably because I'm a miserable s*d who doesn't like people (thats why I sail single handed!)

Seriously though, the dislikes not based on anything solid. I've only seen a couple of interviews with her, but in those she's somehow managed to put me right off her. Gut feeling I guess. She's probably fine in real life.

Still, I wish I was half the sailor she is!
