The Trashman, Lesson in Sea Survival!

Did anyone see the story about the loss of 'The Trashman'??

If ever there was a lesson to be learnt about Sea Survival, that was it!!!!

The programme certainly taught me a thing or 2!

Found it on Reality TV, a channel i never watch, but found it flicking through yesterday, on about 5 or 6pm i think.

Only 2 out of the 5 on board survived, as a result of some very bad decisions made by the skipper and crew.

Had a look, but can't remeber the programme title, might have been Storm Stories.

But i found this, A survivors account of the disaster

What she doesn't say, is the skipper and his mate, were drinking throughout the storm, and no-one has lifejackets on.

Found it, the Programme title is 'split Second', and the story 'Tragedy At Sea' can be seen half way down This page!!!

I would guess maybe next Sunday again, wait till tomorrow, when sundays listing will be listed.

OK, lets not get into hindsight, but this sea area sounds a bleedin nightmare. Why didn't they turn back and sail away from it?

Probably cause he had no means of power, as he left port with a dodgy engine, and it wasn't long before it packed in!

Oh, and they did have a Liferaft kitted out with full stock of provisions, but one of the crew untied it, as they were beginning to sink, and the wind/waves took it off before he had tied it too the boat, or even inflated it!!

Also Skipper set of an EPIRB, but left it on the boat when he bailed out!

As i said, they made a string of serious errors.
