Thanks for the Thames Navigators tip.

I'm familiar with the routine for the Thames barrier as I listen to VTS on my ship to shore.

I would like to get the boat down to the Mudway eventually (by water). I know this is a bit overly adventurous but it must be do-able

I also think the suggestion of breaking up the trip is a good one. Thurrock Yacht Club looks interesting as there is a station near there and they seem to offer visitor berths. That's handy.

If you can get to Leigh then you can get to the Medway. Same distance from the end of Southend pier.
