This pub has had a bad press - yes, it used to be VERY snooty - the welcome being as cold as ice unless it was obvious you'd just come from Itchenor Sailing club and would be departing in ones BMW.

It's changed hands recently though - still not the most welcoming pub in the world but it's a great place and the restaurant food is good but still at pub prices (just).

If you want a table on a Saturday night in season then book well in advance.

I was there just a couple of weeks ago although we didn't eat.

The vast resturant was empty and the tiny bar was cluttered with old furniture and local city types down for the weekend who seemed totally consumed on the price of their houses.

Cheers

Ate there two or three times while our boat was being fixed at Northshore. Very friendly service, we turned up in filthy clothes after cleaning the boat and they were happy to serve us - 'most of our clients are much scruffier' - but most important SWMBO couldn't find anything to criticize about the food or the atmosphere!!
