I can see that the photographer has timed his pressing the shutter so that the hull is hidden behind a wave top, byr I cannot decide on the boat's heading. I want to thing from the position of the boom and what seems to be a standing backstay that she is on the starboard gybe and heading rather away from the camera. Is that right? Because, if so, the starboard shroud and spreader look "wrong". And the condition of the Swedish Ensign is far too good for it to have been exposed to the same wind force as the sails.
A good question. She is stern towards us, boom broken at the kicker, both sails shredded. Quite near land. One can only surmise but caught in a squall and/or knocked down. Or owner lost or unconscious.
