Re: No Problem

I dont remember the words. In my mind I was swearing aleggiance to Britain rather than any particular person. Any way have trouble defending myself never mind a whole country. Maybe it is better to think of just one person it is more feesible that way.

Re: No Problem

Same thing really

You swear allegiance to the Crown personified by the sovereign

Assuming it was army thing

You swear alliegence to crown as opposed to government. Seems a small thing but V important. Means military is loyal to crown and not politician so TB is not supreme commander and military can tell him to **** off if given illegal order to invade other countries.

Sometimes it does'nt quite work but thats the theory.

Re: No Problem

No not Army. When you become a British Citizen you have to go to a recorder of Oaths and swear aleggiance to the queen. Lucky they give you a choice of swearing before god or just solemnely swearing. IF they didnt I could not have become a British Citizen as I am a militant Athiest. and refuse under all circumstance to swear before god.

Re: inherent problem with democracy

Interesting idea

But no Royal Blood so a bit iffy, and he's a politician and an ex president so maybe a bit republicanish

Perhaps Chief Buthelesi maybe a better choice, hereditary chief so experience of ruling, opening things and looking important so thats ok

Had a supporting role in Zulu so good for head of military and arguing with Welshmen.

If he had been better in scrums and understood the offside rule rule it may have been a starring role.

I'm warming to the idea.

Perhaps someone who can drive 'puters can put up one of those tick-sheet voting chart table thingys and we can have a referendum on new King/Queen.

Just so its democratic choice.

Not wishing to be pedantic but could there be a slight bias towards S. Africa

[ QUOTE ]
if and when bigears becomes king i will find the national anthem even less relevant or acceptable.

[/ QUOTE ]Err, this is[/is] acceptable?

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the King!

Re: King Stingo

KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO, KING STINGO.

I'll vote for that but only if I can be Chancellor, witch finder general, head of marine affairs and head of C&I. Now what else needs sorted out - ah yes head of immigration. There that should do.
