I too can't stand the man, whoever he is married to. He will never be a fit person to be King, a purveyor of terminalogical inexactitudes.

Perhaps skip a generation or maybe look elsewhere. The Dutch royal family seem pretty well balanced, maybe we could try one of them, or maybe a Dane.

Don't like the idea of a republic for many reasons. A constitutional monarchy is as good a system as you will find (apart from perhaps me as absolute dictator). Would you seriously risk having a Bush as head of state and government?

Couldn't agree with you more !

He only used the first one as a brood mare to carry on the dynasty while still sha**ing the other horsey one.

Wouldn't p1ss on him to put him out if he was on fire /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Well I think its a man with large pods who, as a constant legitimate target for the media, decides ten years after his previous breakup to go for what he really wanted in the first place.
And I think the Anglican Church should support the view. Wasn't it Henry VIII who instituted divorce in the Royal Family for his own ends?
Charles (who I don't like) is not as loathsome as some of his contemporaries or forebears, and deserves as much as any of us happiness or contentment. Its not as if this is new or perverted behaviour, after all.
Constitutionally I don't think anyone really cares now. The Rainiers of Monaco drove a coach & four through that.
Don't have to rejoice or condemn, but I thinks he stands taller for ending all speculation.
Bet the media will have sniping field decade.

As one who has divorced 3 times, my record looks bad. Or does it? You don't know, and I ain't telling.

I hope they sail off into the sunset as happy as pigs.

Re: How we got here

before the current german lot were the dutch lot as you say, and before that some scots, before that some vaguley welsh lot, and before that the Normans who opriginated in Norway, who duffed up the English chap, harold, who got beaten due to the usual English problem - far too much many matches in the same season.

Very dull that for the forseeable future all our monarchs will be ancient whilst on the throne. Any chance of a decent scottish uprising with the new motorways and so on? Or with current govt - is it already in progress?

Think perhaps going back rather a long way.

I'm pretty certain they've given up burning Catholics and stuff like that.

Just think perhaps the merry house of Windsor has run its course and time to let some other lot have a go and the Dutch seemed as good as any.

Not really important who. Sure Danes would be just as good, but perhaps be a bit cautious about Greek and Spanish, may be a bit out of practice at the King business, or at Queening too.
