The red diesel irony.

RCC is charging 91p at the moment on "red". Fuel purchased long before any price drop. Can see no reason if tax rates have remained the same ,why "white" cannot be supplied at same price .

I imagine that price is at 60:40. My current 1500 litres works out around 93p per litre at 60:40. The base price of red is around 60-63p per litre at the moment, which includes the lower 'heating' duty of around 11ppl and VAT @ 5%. To this you have to add an additional circa 48ppl to 60% of the fuel sold to get to your 60:40 price, or to the whole lot to get your full duty paid price.

Yes 60/40 and also includes a dose of snake oil .
Never heard of any fuel contamination by those using club tank but one or two owners have come a cropper after using fuel from "other" sources.

If you could buy white diesel at the 60:40 price what would stop me (I mean other people!) putting it in their car?
Only the law
I think the rebated price has to be little different to the roadside petrol station price so there is no incentive to cheat. Maybe a 75/25 duty split would sort that out
Or a very severe penalty if caught.

Just the reverse of what is happening at the moment, instead of folks lugging half a dozen 20L plastic drums of Red diesel down the pontoon, they will be lugging those 20L drums of white up the pontoon.
They only real difference will be its a lot harder to pull the trolley up the brow incline than down. ?
 
One way or the other there is no way I am going to be lugging fuel I jerry cans. Having helped to carry fuel when our friends had a petrol boat it’s no fun at all. The quest for petrol and, ultimately, a sea trip that we made, and they didn’t, was one of the reasons our good friends changed to a diesel engine boat.

For the time being its business as usual assuming the corona virus issues permits us to use the boat.
