The Ramsholt Arms

Deben Inns transformed the Melton Coach and Horses, so we look forward to the Ramsholt Arms..

They did indeed, but that was hardly difficult. They have however transformed it into a formulaic soulless eatery complete with regulation sage green and cream painted matchboarding, clicky wood floor and faux 'olde' advertising posters rendering it devoid of a regular drinking clientele.

Oh and I whole hartedly agree with the comments about the over inflated prices for mediocre Brake Bros. style soup-in-a-basket fayre.

That is, fortunately only in part, what they did to the Butt. Dreadful "decoration" in the dining room which looked as if they bought the entire Nauticalia catalogue and hung it around. The food is OK at times and some of the specials can be quite good, however Brake Bros do go down the lane every day. Not content with messing up the inside they have been trying for months to get approval for an external "makeover" which might be appropriate for a cheap suburban pub. Loads of decking and twee park railings.

The planning application is on its 3rd incarnation and is sill "Not yet decided" Why an application can carry on months past the date when it should have been decided I just don't know.

If they get hold of the Ramsholt Arms they will undoubtedly do something similar. Fortunately the Saloon bar in the Butt is listed so they can't touch it.

The saloon bar was ruined, by the Estate over 20 yrs ago, when they ran the pub. they spent more money wrecking the place than the take over the bar,so dont worry
