After 20 years ownership, Ian & Jackie Robertson have sold The Old Forge in Knoydart.

The remotest pub in mainland Britain, often featured in the pages of YM, has been bought by a Belgian who has been a regular visitor to Knoydart for many years, so is familiar with the area and the friendly mixture of visitors & locals. How much the new guy knows about the sailing and the need to keep certain services up to scratch, such as maintaining the moorings, remains to be seen (his interest and visits to Knoydart are around deer stalking) but he seems a nice chap and I wish him all the best.

Best wishes and thanks to Ian and Jackie. They still own the Knoydart House self catering accommodation so will still be around for a pint and a few tunes with old friends.

I've followed them on twitter for years. I've walked to the pub and sailing there is a long held dream.

Hope they do well in whatever life has for them.

Interesting News

Hard to go past without stopping though I am told (by a sailing Duck)that Doune is an interesting alternative. Was in again in July and nothing had changed then, pints by the roadside among the kids and dogs and then a very good meal in the bar.
I hope the new owner appreciates what he has and resists the urge to change anything.
