There were pictures of windsurfers on the South Coast in the lunchtime news today. They seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Ha Ha.Can anyone recommend the best anchor to use this afternoon please?
(Sorry couldn't resist).
Where are you sitting it out?Ha Ha.
We don’t need another anchor thread.
Just curious, are any other forum members sitting this one out at anchor or are we the only mad ones?
Yep, a lifeboat almost overturned trying to rescue one of them. There were pictures of windsurfers on the South Coast in the lunchtime news today. They seemed to be enjoying themselves.
and according to the MAIL were rescued by the coastguard. I find that insulting to the brave crews of RNLI.
Heart-stopping moment lifeboat almost capsizes on Storm Ciara rescue
The Mail make it clear that it was the RNLI that rescued the surfer.
Coastguard would have tasked them with the rescue.

I know conditions were violent,& we cannot see the few seconds leading to it. But it makes one wonder why he allowed the boat to go broadside to that wave in the first place. How was he expecting to get someone out of the water, if he was getting in a situation where the boat was to be rolled 90 degrees. What would he have done with a crew on the deck trying to recover a casualty? All gung ho stuff, & we know that the boat is designed to take it, (Sybarite please note!!) but would the forum be confident with that cox?Der Sturmer titled this clip « Coastguard Boat Almost Capsizes »
Could someone tell Viscount Rothermere that this isn’t the 51st State yet?

Does the bar do decent beer.Speaking as an expert armchair hero with DSO (distinguished slagging off) and bar, it does seem a bit odd. I imagine everyone was safely strapped in at the time, so no real risk, but I wouldn't be surprised if Words Were Had afterwards.
If it doesn't, you won't find me there... Actually, I think in this case, bar means bugger all responsibilityDoes the bar do decent beer.
I do agree that it seemed odd and fairly close to the shore I believe. Hopefully lessons will be learnt and passed on to the other crews round the country.
