I have just been reading a book called the Motorist afloat published in 1963 and it was amazing to see the following :-
" Insurance is also comparatively cheap .... £2-£5 for a small outboard runabout"
"1 hp lightweigts £25 to giant developing 75hp costing £500"
"A 16 hp motor recomended for medium sized seagoing cruisers"

Pictures of Seagull outboards and Morris Minor with a boat on the roof rack made me think how much things have changed.

I guess 25 foot was a BIG boat back then......

My old P33 was one of the biggest boats in Pwhelli in 79 and took the olympic commitee to see the course. Maybe thats why it went belly up!!

In the late 60's I bought a new Mini Van for £350 A Bedford 5 ton truck was £1000 including sign writting. A beer was 1s9d

Ahh! Can see it clearly. Burnt black pudding sandwiches and beer for lunch, sitting on water cushions, while plowing through green water over windscreen.

How quickly did they leave?
