Always before every race the question "What are we going to wear" sail wise of course. Demands a shrewd estimate of expected wind strength then choice from 4 hank on jibs and a reef in or out. Reef is easy enough to pull in or release while sailing.
It is all a bit tricky. Racing starts at 2.05 Pm but breeze 15 to 18kts usually arrives at about 2 pm sometimes earlier. Certainly with my little boat (quite tender) less is best. Me I let the crew decide as it is they who must change the jib if the choice is bad. ol'will

I did 27 days of racing this year. Average of 2 races per day. So 54 races. Roughly similar for the last 19 years, so that's a thousand races.

And when you get to my age it’ll be even more.
