Notice today from the London Array Wind Farm Coordinators:

"All mariners are advised that due to maintenance works all London Array Aids to Navigation are expected to be offline from 19/08/2021 05:30 to 20/08/2021 10:00"

That means all the perimeter lights will be off whether they are 'shipping lights' (that's the yellow lights) or 'aero lights' (that's the red lights) and fog warnings. Eek

Of course the three safe water marks will still be lit.

Oh good, they might actually be able to spare some electricity for the National Grid then! :D

(It never ceases to amuse me the way the wind farms are lit up like christmas trees, I;m sure they don't need THAT many lights!!!)

The sand bars managed with a buoy or three before they stuck the turbines on them.

My theory is somebody decided once it would be a brilliant idea to have all the lighting controlled by software. Anybody could sit in a nice dry office monitoring to see if it is working ok. So they decided to do that. But of couse nobody mentioning the need for the software to be updated. After all, inventing the software ten years ago wouldn't last. All software needs to be reinvented every two or three years, everypeeps knows that. So they realised they needed to re-write the software and before they could 'upgrade it' :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:, they needed to rebuild the hardware and they have to turn off everything for 24 hours. It's so much simpler that replacing individual bulbs.

That's my theory.

When the Jubilee line extension was opened in 1999, it ran on 486 processors...It wasn't changed until 2011, and they were combing eBay to buy up any 486 processors... You couldn't make it up...
