.....And the first sail of autumn for many of us.

After a grand sail up the Wallet to Bradwell on Saturday and a chance to socialise in acceptably warm weather, it was time to see the seasons change as we came home yesterday. I saw in interesting optical phenomenon as we passed Walton when the sails on a yacht we had (motored) past that had appeared to be white now appeared bright blue. This was because the sky behind me was blue. My companion agreed and it shows on the second photo, though not as much as in life as I have resisted the temptation to Photoshop it.

That is me in the second picture, I guess you were in the HR that motor sailed past under jib alone?

I'd been watching the progress of the cloud formation as it approached with some interest - when the squall did come through, the wind shifted about 30 degrees and touched 35 knots true for a fair while.

.

I'm afraid we did motor past. There was very little wind when we started and I wanted to get my crew home in good time and by the time we got a good sailing wind at Walton in didn't seem worth stopping to put the main up. We had up to 33 knots the day before but mostly F5.

PM me if you want a full resolution version of the photos.
