My boat is now 20 years old and I decided to have a look inside the fuel tank. I fitted a Wema FLB access hatch using a 115 mm hole saw. A relatively easy job after I fitted 375x375 hatch in the quarter locker to gain access to the top of the tank.
The photo shows what I found and as you can see there was very little muck. Just needed a wipe with dry rags.
It shows that keeping the tank full and using grotamar works well!!

The regular dosing is the matter that keeps you going ... tank full or not is open for debate.

They say - never buy a mechanics car .... well I fall into that category ... I can advise and help regarding contamination and treatment of fuel ... but I am 'lazy' when it comes to my own ... BUT I use an enzyme based 3 - 4x a year ... basically when my tank is very low and I fill up - I add a decent amount of additive ...
The last time I had any problem was 2011 .... I took a large volume in Swedish Islands after crossing Baltic and a few days in the islands ... few days later - literally 4 - 5 days .... in Mariehamn (Finnish Alands) - cough splutter ... engine died !
I didn't have my usual additive with me and no-one had anything in the small places we stopped ... was an eventful remainder of cruise ! If we couldn't just sail - it was motor ... clean filter ... motor ... clean filter ....
