The Gun Inn - A great place to sail to.

It’s not morning. Where are you?

Hi Dave, my post was later that day, I was up at home wondering if I was getting my vessel back to Brighton from Rye. As it turns out a minor mechanical issues finds me holed up still, but a night on the boat still better than nothing ! Ha !
Really liked your videos, keep 'em coming until you run out of pubs! Then sail onto to new territory.........

A great little series of videos which I hope you will expand to be a big series :rolleyes:

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for posting I watched a couple and quite enjoyed. Thanks Dave's
Sailing to a nice Pub, not to far away. For some reason it is much more relevant to me than most. Nice boat to.
The Solent is not an area I am very familiar with. I visited briefly some 30 years ago, was quite surprised how busy it is. I can see why so many people like it. It would be nice to sail there some day and visit a few pubs.

Very enjoyable, thanks.

I'd like to have seen a bit more of the pilotage in and and out as Keyhaven is on my list of places to visit and I'll probably be single handed. Its just gone up in priority after what brief bits you did show.

Keyhaven is well marked, and like many places once you have done it you wonder what all the fuss is about. Well worth giving the warden a call to get the latest local information before you try it. Good idea to anchor just inside if you are planning a lunch time visit on springs as the warden comes down in the morning to collect the modest harbour dues and you can discuss what you want to do.

I'd sailed past and wondered about Keyhaven for over 40 years, but the pilot books are a little discouraging - the locals told me they like it that way ! - and the tides don't really suit for going on anywhere else on passage, we finally got there by making it a determined target.

As Tranona says, once done you'll wonder what the fuss was about; though it is essential to do one's sums, I do have the luxury of a lift keel.

The entrance - small red and green buoys -is for some reason quite difficult to spot from seaward even with a plotter to give a clue - as usual bino's are the answer, I most certainly wouldn't make a first try at night or in bad vis.

Hmmm, I agree. We completely forgot to pick up camera on way in. And were filming on way out but camera wasn't switched on. Couple of old crocs.

I paricularly liked the NTM re Plymouth;

' automatic weapons and large calibre rounds are routinely fired in the vicinity of the Mewstone, so vessels should not loiter '

which as far as tips go, seems a good one.

There are similar warnings on the approach to Port Solent, but no yotties taken out by a bullet just yet, maybe they're keeping their powder dry to bag several Sunsail jobs with one shot !
