The Grudge : Rules

withdraw?? You won't gloom us out of it again with your twiddlesome tactics. You will be escorted to the startline at the correct time this year and no "oh dear the vhf is busted, thiv obviously gone already" excuses this time either.

Ok this is a sort of back to basics race then .. so rules are no winch handles allowed then .. its a sort of fair handicapping system which tends to partially compensate for boat length

Now there's an idea, charter a chopper for the afternoon!

Right then,

If its not too orrid, can we play too?

For the handicapping committee, we will be using some scruffy old sails (aka "the best set")

What do you mean I've got a "wee yin" There is very little about me thats "wee" & i've told SWMBO not to tell anyone. Mind you judging from the spam I get at work the whole world knows already. Anyhow you know all this rubbish about waterline length, restricting speed on displacement boats, is just a smoke screen put about by Boat Designers so they can charge more for bigger boats.

oh bum. I have seen your boat and it looks all sawn off at the back, probably to make it go faster or save weight.

Having several "sets" of sails also sounds a bit cheaty. Anyhow, why would anyone want to put up the rubbish sails? ""i know dear, lets have a rotten day of slow sailing and change the current top-notch sails for a much worse and slower sail instead"

Anyway, a new rule that i have just noticed says that you have to use the worst sails you have got, like everyone else.

Re: tart line

I am sure that Brendan and I can provide a tart line and the appropriate hooters for the sail back to Mercury; in the best traditions of a non race you will not of course need a finish.

OK then, we'll be overweight....

The lack of transom came about when the 2000bhp twin supercharged V8 he was using for extra speed ripped the transom out.
Still...........It gave the McGregors a run for their money for a while.

If overweight is allowed, then I might make it in time dependant on wind direction/speed. BTW, if you see smoke from the back of my boat, it is only the heating/icemaker - I wouldnt dream of turning on the oversized magi-mixer
However I might be a bit late getting away, in which case I will go directly to Mercury.
