Isn't it odd how we remember the good times best?

"Ah'm no' rowin' oot there in that!"

"Ah'm no' rowin' oot there in that!"

Looking at the angle of some of those masts let alone the whitecaps...good decision..:D :D

It's at Oban, in the Sound of Kerrera, showing the moorings off the sailing club just south of the RNLI station..... where we had a Rival 34 for some years on a mooring which cost £300 'cash on the nail'. Perhaps this shows why....

We sailed from these moorings for several years!
Leaving Glasgow every Friday night which involved a hair raising drive up loch lomond side never checked the weather forecast and boy did we have some interesting journeys from the slip out to the boat and numerous "bouncy" nights but once out of our wet clothes, a mug of soup and something stronger we were all at peace with the world and hoping the weather would abate enough for us to go sailing! mind you we did have youth on our side in those days.

That was in May - looks like we have another 2 months of this to go!

This was my boat on the same day but a wee bit further south.

I was going to say depends which way you are rowing the dinghy but looking at that I will stay in the pub! Wow you must have some amazing mooring laid by oil rig supply ship no doubt!

The morning after "that" day in May 2011 - the anemometer at the Royal Observatory, about 200m from my house, had recorded over 150mph - my wife answered the phone to my yacht club Commodore. The 15 seconds it took to get to the phone had the boat wrecked on the beach, or worse, but he was only phoning to reassure me of her well-being.

I can certainly recommend my mooring contractor

Are those the moorings down by the Yacht Club at Gourock?
As for the weather it was quite common to look out of my kitchen window up on Canada Hill in Rothesay and see the weather looking like that-watching the Rothesay ferry making a sudden turn between waves and the car deck getting sluiced
