Paul , I hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in again and I also hope you don't object to the following e mail that I've now sent to TC . I doubt he'll respond but I think he should so let's give him a chance , and I also understand that you're avoiding replies , I presume for legal reasons .
Dear Mr Chappel,
I am currently writing to you to discuss the series of events surrounding the situation of one of your customers, Paul Burgess.
As I am certain you are aware, there has been many a discussion on the travesty which has occurred taking place through the Yachting and Boating World Forums, involving often hundreds of members who are all disgusted yet enthralled at how such disgraceful treatment of a customer can take place. We are a large community of boaters who spend a lot of time ensuring that those who would like help or wish to give help have a friendly place to go, and many problems or queries are sorted often instantaneously, and the thousands of members observing allow us to hold great influence as a whole.
However, there has been an ongoing 'saga' which has remained at the forefront of the minds of YBW viewers. This, of course, is the story relating to yourself and the entire company you represent, Trader Yachts. Over the course of the year we have been kept up to date on the progression, or perhaps lack of it, regarding the disastrous problems with Mr Burgess's yacht and your company has quite rightly suffered for it.
I wish to formally invite you today to join our community and help us try and understand your company's position, if at least to make an effort to defend your workers, without whom your company would presumably consist of nothing and deserve a lot more than the comments made about them by those angry at the scenario.
We can be an extremely pleasant community but do not appreciate being messed around, and we can be fair once a position is made clear. An example can be made which occurred today - One of our fellow members requested our advice after supposedly encountering a problem with a sail company. The point was discussed and the reputation of said company was affected. No sooner had this taken place the owner was kindly asked to visit the site to make their point known - suffice to say the problem was sorted a lot quicker and the company very much went up in the estimations of many who commented.
I must admit that it is hard for me to understand why you have no made this effort already. Had you have been reading the topics surely you would have read about the forum member who asked our advice on one of the largest yachts in your range and was subsequently disgusted and very much dissuaded from buying from you - he has returned today to inform us all that he has taken his business to one of your competitors and spent a very large sum. If my company was in this position I would be doing the best i could to help rather than enrage, I am frankly appalled at this apparent act of cowardice.
I hope you will join us for all the reasons stated above and I look forward to discussing your company's point of view.
Regards,
David
